David Played for Saul (1 Samuel 16)
Hey Volunteer Team! This week we’re focusing on 1 Samuel 16, where David, though anointed as king, humbly serves Saul as a shepherd and musician. While David’s time as king hadn’t come yet, God used this period of waiting to shape his character and point us to Jesus, the ultimate Suffering Servant.
David’s humble service brought relief to Saul, just as Jesus’ humble, sacrificial death brings eternal rescue for all who believe. Let’s help the kids understand the power of humility and obedience in serving others, and how Jesus’ humility is both our example and the means of our salvation. Pray they see the peace Christ offers through faith.
