Saul Disobeyed God (1 Samuel 14-15)
Hey parents! This week discussed 1 Samuel 14–15, where Saul’s disobedience has a devastating impact on God’s people. His rash decisions, like the strict oath that led to Jonathan’s near execution and his failure to fully obey God in the destruction of the Amalekites, showed his disregard for God’s commands. This highlights our need for a perfect leader, which we find in Jesus.
While Saul’s pride and impulsiveness led to destruction, Jesus, in perfect obedience to His Father, sacrificed Himself for our redemption. Let’s help kids see the importance of obeying God, but also the even greater gift of grace we receive through Christ’s sacrifice—something we don’t deserve.
