SERMON RECAP
In Mark 8, Jesus heals a blind man in two stages, creating a powerful picture of spiritual sight. Just as the blind man did not see clearly after the first touch, the disciples could recognize that Jesus was the Messiah but still misunderstood who He truly was and what He came to do. Peter correctly identified Jesus as the Christ yet immediately resisted the idea of a suffering Savior. The disciples could see, but their vision was still blurry.
This sermon reminds us that we all come to Jesus with limited perspective. We often want God to solve immediate problems while He is working on deeper issues in our hearts. Jesus exposes the root of our spiritual blindness—pride and selfishness—and invites us into a different way of living. Through the cross, Jesus reveals the heart of God: self-giving love. As we experience His love more deeply, our eyes are opened, our pride is challenged, and we learn to follow the way of the cross. The invitation is clear: deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus. In losing our lives for His sake, we discover true life.
