KEEP THIS IN MIND | 9.10.23

 1. Icebreaker: Play Who Am I? Everyone gets a sticky note placed on either your back or forehead with the name of a famous person, then the person needs to ask questions to guess who they are. 

 2. Go around and answer the question, Who are you? What makes you, you? 

     After everyone shares, ask if what makes you feel important or valuable was taken away, How would that make you feel? 

 3. Culture inflates self-love and individualism which has promoted the rise of narcissism, but Paul challenges Christians to have the mindset of Christ. Read Philippians 2:5-11 (NIV) and discuss the mindset of Christ. Discuss how Christ's mindset differs from culture's message? 

 4. Read Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV) "Rather in humility value others above yourself" Paul here is challenging you to make a conscious choice to develop a mindset that sees other people that are worthy of being served by you. Discuss together what are some practical ways to develop the mindset of Christ and practical ways to serve others. 

 5. Break up into groups of 2-3 by gender and share the following: 

 Where is the Lord challenging you? 

 Has culture influenced your relationships or family dynamics? 

 What will you do this week to make a conscious choice to apply the mindset of Christ? 

6.  Close in prayer with each person taking turns praying the following prayer taken from our "One Thing Resources" https://voxchurch.org/Content/onething_packet.pdf

THREE PRAYERS TO GROW MY FAITH:   

1. STRETCH ME - I have more in me than I realize. Lead me to new environments and new risks.    

2. RUIN ME - Give me holy discontentment. God, crush me with a burden. Squeeze out pride and self ambition-make me suitable for your purpose. Crush me with the reality of Injustice, hell, eternity, poverty- with love for you-love for others – zeal for you fame.    

3. HEAL ME. - Heal me from seeking the lights, getting people's attention, exaggerating my own importance, not trusting, feeling like I don’t measure up, comparing, unbelief, wanting to be more successful than others, impatience, unkind words, condemnation.
