Text: Genesis 35:9-10
1. When was the last time you forgot something important. How did it pan out?
2. In Genesis 28:10-15, God made some amazing promises to Jacob and has fulfilled them. Take some time and remember a promise or promises of God that He fulfilled for you?
3. In Genesis 34:30-31, Jacob was under some pressure and forgot the promises of God. What are some pressures you are under right now? What promise can you claim over that pressure?
4. God changed Jacob’s name to Israel. He gave him a new identity. Ephesians 2:10 says that as a child of God, you are His masterpiece. Talk about why you do or why you don't feel like God's masterpiece. Either way, if you were to accept it as true, what would actually change in your life?
“The best praying man is the man who is most familiar with the promises of God. After all, prayer is nothing but taking God’s promises to him, and saying to him, “Do as thou hast said.” Prayer is the promise utilized. A prayer which is not based on a promise has no true foundation.” - Charles Spurgeon
Take some time and pray together. Praise God for His fulfilled promises and ask Him to come through, yet again, for promises needed today.
